Today marks that day where we all take out the paper and pen and write down all the things we want to change, start, and keep for the new year. A lot of people want to change their diet, fitness plan, love life, and career. When we get down to the nitty-gritty of it all we see that the goals we make are not healthy nor sustainable. When it comes to healthy we focus on weight, for fitness we focus on trends, love is all about finding it, and the career is always about money.
When we look at our goals there are some things we must ask ourselves…
- Will this make me feel good & happy?
- Am I doing this for myself?
- Will this help me grow as a person?
- Is this realistic?
- Is this a long or short goal?
- Does this promote self-love?
- 2016 Food Health (I HATE the word DIET!)
Focus on creating a relationship with food, It’s a friend. Something that fuels you and supports you. Find ways to get in the kitchen and create your own meals, when you cook your own food you appreciate what you eat. Try gardening in the spring/summer to honor where your food comes from. You can even visit local farms and markets to make your food health more of an experience.
Do what makes you feel good, you want to look forward to your workouts. Try mixing different styles like yoga & boxing, even Pilates & dance. Have fun! Create your own personal fitness music playlist, songs that energize and inspires you to keep working hard. Take time out of your day for your “Selfish Hour” your workout is what makes you strong, it connects the mind and heart. Fitness is a balance where you are able to understand the body and truly value all the hard work your body and mind do for you.
2016 Love Life
If you are in a relationship or just starting one that most important foundation to any relationship is friendship. Your partner should be your best friend. Love is a balance of passion and friendship. When you are able to talk to someone and connect with them emotionally and spiritually without having to take your clothes off, then that is the person you are meant to be with. This is your time to connect with yourself and understand who you are as a being. Be confident, strong, independent, and smart! You are going to find that special someone, just keep yourself open to new opportunities! Stay safe and make sure you are aware of your surroundings Trust your gut & heart!
Money should not be the driver in your career, it should be passion! You should enjoy what you do! If you wake up every day excited to go to your work, then you are in the right field. Never lose sight of what makes you happy, trust your instinct and follow the path you feel is best for you. Your job right now may be the stepping stone in the right direction of where you want to go. If not, you need to decide if the opportunity you have benefits your life vision. It’s all about trusting yourself and honoring your feelings.
